A truly limited edition. Sadly, the beautiful thick sunshine yellow paper Uncle Crocky uses for the pages inside these notebooks is no longer made! Each book comes tied up in green hemp string, its edition number typed onto the tag.

The Commonplace Book was popular during the Renaissance until the nineteenth century and was used to assemble knowledge in one place for future reference. "Commonplacing" meant to transcribe interesting or inspirational passages, to compile a personalised encyclopedia of quotations, ideas, recipes and titbits. In the eighth century the books were known as florilegia, meaning 'gatherings of flowers'. And then, in the fifteenth century, they were known as zibaldone, literally 'a book of hodgepodge'.

Harking back to forgotten times, Uncle Crocky reintroduces the Commonplace Book. Complete with a burst of bewildering sunshine yellow pages and a wrap-around cover image, this is a treasure to give comfort and inspiration to the most peculiar and curious of minds.

Printed from an original ink-on paper drawing created using thousands of tiny lines (see final photograph). Finished and assembled by hand (and claw!) in a corner of New Zealand.
