Process
Uncle Crocky's objects of curiosity all start with hand-drawn ink-on-paper illustrations, and stories typed on one of his many vintage typewriters.
Greeting cards are printed in small batches in Uncle Crocky's workshop. Notebooks and coloured envelopes are made by small family-owned printeries in Wellington, and tea towels are screen-printed in Auckland.
Uncle Crocky cares about the world and all the curious creatues and people in it. For this reason, he uses the most sustainable and ethical methods and materials he can find.
MATERIALS
Card & Paper
Uncle Crocky's paper products are printed on heavy art card manufactured in the UK or Scotland and with FSC (sustainable regenerated virgin-wood-free forests) and ECF (heavy metal free) certifications.
The paper used for coloured envelopes and the pages of notebooks is manufactured in Scotland with the same certifications. Kraft envelopes are made in Australia from post-consumer recycled paper.
Protective Sleeves
Cards and notebooks are provided to stockists in protective see-through sleeves that are made from cellulose and contain zero plastic. They are essentially transparent paper bags and are globally certified as home-compostable.
String
String used for packaging is made of hemp and is coloured using environmentally-friendly non-toxic dyes.
Screen Printing Inks
Tea towels are screen-printed using environmentally-friendly, non-toxic and water-based dyes.
