Dish Towel / Tea Towel - Vintage Lamps - 'To Illuminate'
"Illuminate, (verb); to make luminous or shining, to explain, to light the way."
When Goethe (a key writer and figure of the En-lighten-ment Period) wrote his book 'Theory of Colour', many people were angry that he was wasting his time when there were pressing cultural matters to speak up about. When his book was published, most scientists criticised or made fun of it. Nevertheless, Goethe was enamoured with light. He had a large paper envelope made to hold all his colour charts, sketches and manuscripts. In his diary in 1807, he wrote, "If we look [...] toward the light, then we love and hope."
Screen-printed in New Zealand using environmental-(and people)-friendly water-based dyes, this tea towel (or dish towel!) is created from Uncle Crocky's original ink-on-paper line drawings.
